Jordan's Picks of the Week!!

Occupy Avengers #6 This book has Hawkeye in it, so it’s already got a pretty big advantage. Sorry, I guess I’m a little bias. OK, for real though, here’s what I like about Occupy Avengers: it’s basically the A-Team meets the Avengers. A small band of heroes that are setting right some various wrongs. In fact, it makes reference to the A-Team in the introduction of the book, which is a plus. The story is this (in a nutshell) Hawkeye and his team are in a town full of Skrulls (the cool shape changing people) that is being held hostage...

X-Men Blue #1 Last week I reviewed the first issue of X-Men Gold, so in the sake of fairness I took a look at X-Men Blue. This is the original team of X-Men (Jean Grey, Cyclops, Angel, Ice Man, and Beast), brought to the modern day. So, they are a younger, less grizzled team as compared to Gold. I’ll say this right away, this book gets an instant thumbs up for having my favorite X-Man (Beast, although he’s not blue or fury in this one, but one can’t complain too much). Let me start my actual review by saying it’s...

Four-Color Frenzy 001 By David Binkley Recently some colleagues of mine have started sharing on facebook some articles they've been writing for everyone's favorite local comic shop. Me being the type of person who hates being left out of the action when it comes to comic books and/or blurting out my own stupid, long-winded, rambling opinion regardless of whether or not anyone asked/cares, I've decided to try my hand at the same. Maybe if it goes well, it'll lead to a career in writing stupid, long-winded, unsolicited opinions just like every other annoying, semi-articulate 20-something out there with no real...

The Flintstones #10 Ok, so last week I reviewed the odd Booster Gold/Flintstones cross over, and it piqued my curiosity of this Flintstones series. Now, I’ve heard some pretty good stuff about this from my friends, but never gave it a shot until tonight. And honestly, this might be the best book I read all week. I was very surprised at what I found here. One of the things I really liked about the Booster Gold cross over was the writing by Mark Russell. Well, turns out he’s the regular writer of this series. And that is a very...

X-Men Prime #1 This book is the first of what I’ve just realized are all one shots this week. I promise this was a coincidence, this is just what looked good. X-Men Prime is the catalyst that will lead to several upcoming X-Men books for this year. We have the makings of Weapon X, X-Men Gold, and X-Men Blue. So, knowing that new X-Men books were coming soon, I wanted to get a place marker for where we are with the mutants. So, having not read the X-Men vs. Inhumans, and let’s face it, the X-Men mythos can be a...
